Ten sentenced of cyber-bullying against Brigitte Macron

A Paris court has ruled against ten people for carrying out the digital intimidation of Brigitte Macron, the spouse of the President of France, Emmanuel Macron.
The defendants faced charges of spreading false claims regarding her gender identity and sexual orientation, in addition to posting defamatory statements about the pair's significant age difference.
The court delivered suspended jail terms of a maximum of eight months to the perpetrators. The full ruling has still to be made public.
A persistent conspiracy theory suggesting that Brigitte Macron is a person assigned male at birth has been in circulation since her husband's first electoral victory in 2017.
This latest legal outcome in France is concurrent with the Macrons pursuing a libel case in the United States against conservative commentator Candace Owens, who has repeatedly shared analogous false narratives about the French president's wife's identity.
Their complaint contends that Owens brushed aside any factual proof that refuted her assertions opting to platforming known conspiracy theorists.
Owens has often echoed these assertions on her podcast and online platforms, and in March 2024 proclaimed that she would stake her entire professional reputation on her conviction that Mrs. Macron is in fact a man.
Brigitte Macron first met her now-husband when she worked as an educator at his lycée.
The pair tied the knot in 2007, when the man who would become president was 29 and she was approximately 54 years old.
